Since 1984, The Frame Gallery has been San Antonio’s trusted specialist for needlework framing, papyrus framing, and the careful handling of delicate textiles, heirlooms and ancient documents.
Many of the pieces brought into our De Zavala Road studio are one-of-a-kind family treasures—and many are older than the frames we custom-build for them. When you bring your project to us, owner and lead designer Kelley Butler works with you directly to select the perfect matting, frame, and glass combination.

Needlework is stretched and hand-laced onto acid-free backing board. Nothing is trimmed or glued, ensuring the process is 100% reversible.

We use mats or spacers to elevate the glass above the surface, protecting thread textures from being crushed flat.

Papyrus and parchment are hinged rather than pressed flat, allowing the natural, deckled edges of the sheet to remain on full display.

Thread colors and natural plant fibers fade quickly in ambient sunlight. We finish most pieces under UV-filtering glass (including Non-Glare UV and Museum Glass options).

Your piece is stretched and laced onto acid-free backing board. Nothing is trimmed, taped or glued, so the mounting can be reversed years later. Spacers or a mat keep the glass off the stitches so the texture is not crushed.
