At The Frame Gallery, we preserve people’s memories in the form of a custom frame. That is how Kelley Butler, our owner, describes the work, and it is the reason the shop has stayed in San Antonio since 1984.
It all begins with the design. When a customer walks in with a piece of art, we begin designing it right there at the front counter, together — moulding and mat corners held against the actual piece, not chosen from a screen. From there it goes to manufacturing, and this is the part most people do not realize: everything is manufactured here in San Antonio and assembled right here in our shop. Nothing is sent away to a production facility in another state.
Custom framing is the heart of it, but not the whole of it. We also print — any image, on photo paper, fine art paper or canvas — design and build custom mirrors, and handle photo editing and restoration for pictures that have faded, torn or been damaged. If you have a project you cannot quite work out how to get into a frame, but you know you want to, bring it in. That is the conversation we enjoy most.
